Major Highlights

Seeking to place the global and U.S. monthly climate into a long-term perspective, this report contains detailed information and analysis from general global conditions to reports on regional events and anomalies. Highlights for the month of July for the U.S. include: record wet conditions for parts of the Northeast; an increase in the area in moderate to severe drought in the West; cool temperatures through the central U.S., leading to a rank of 29th coldest July for the nation as a whole from 110 years of national records; record warmth in Alaska for July. And for the globe: 6th warmest July on record; ENSO conditions showing tentative indications of shifting towards warm-phase; monsoon-related flooding in South Asia; severe winter weather in Chile, Peru and Argentina
